BRISTOL SALON 2018
Tony Report Mtg 9-04-18
Regular not to be missed evening, once again we played host to the above show.
Andy and Keith were our presenters for this eagerly awaited show and as usual it didn’t disappoint the standard of work was truly outstanding, with a wide range of images and subjects covering a multitude of themes.
To give an idea of the truly international attraction of this salon here are a few facts worth mentioning.
Over 1000 photographers from 58 countries submitted work, a total of 10,500 image, of these over 2400 were accepted, these were divided into four categories Open, Monochrome,Nature, and Travel
from this huge amount of images it gives an idea of the work that the judges had to undertake in order to arrive at the different award levels of Highly Commended,Silver and Gold in each of the listed categories.
What struck me was how photographers from different countries who were to some extent politically distant from us overcame any divide in their love of photography, noticeably Iran,China,Russia countries to whom we at times seem very wary of from a political point of view.A very refreshing and positive reaction that overcomes any prejudices we may have..!
A reminder next week…AGM your chance to air your views on how the club is proceeding and issues raised.
