The Phoenix Group of Photographers is one of the premier groups of photographers in the South West of England. We have a wide range of members from beginners to advanced photographers and no matter what your level of skill or experience is, each of us wants to learn more and share with others what we have learned about making pictures.
About The Club
We meet every Monday evening at 7:30pm from September to May at the Monkton Heathfield Village Hall, near Taunton, Somerset.
Our objectives are to advance proficiency in the science and art of photography in as many forms as is practicable and to encourage helpful friendship amongst members.

V I C K I – L E A B O U L T E R — Creative Photography & Digital Art
ur guest speaker for the above evening was Vicki Boulter who’s main interest and indeed passion is “Digital Art” and what an evening it turned out to be i can honestly say that i and i believe the majority of members who attended were treated to an absolutely wonderful evening.
The examples of her portrait work were truly stunning combining both facial images with surreal backgrounds using a variety of homemade brushes on a Photoshop platform together with Fractal designs all joining seamlessly to produce breathtaking results.
Her approach to models / clients was to get them to talk to her expressing their desires, doubts and memories and then creating story board approach combing many of their thoughts this produced images that were not only beautiful but thought provoking.
Not only adults but children also benefited from this approach, gone were the stilted beauty queen style and a more relaxed attitude was apparent, getting the children to talk about their favourite toys or books or film characters and then creating a world in which the children were immersed in this make believe.
She ended the evening evening with a selection of images taken at Paignton Zoo all of which showed her keen eye and an ability in Photoshop to add emphasis to certain aspects where necessary.
It would be remiss of me not to mention her daughter Jodie who was responsible for the make up in a number of her images.
Vicki also indicated a willingness to undertake a tutorial class for us in Taunton cost of this would of course depend on numbers interested therefore if those who were keen could let myself or John know we can arrive at a cost and date.
A vote of thanks was proposed by the Vice Chairman and members responded accordingly.
